Sol CampbellSir Alex Ferguson has ruled out a deal to bring veteran defender Sol Campbell to Manchester United in January.

Campbell was linked with a shock move to Old Trafford earlier this week to solve United's current injury problems in defence.

Patrice Evra was the sole fit defender available for United's UEFA Champions League win at Wolfsburg on Tuesday, and only Nemanja Vidic is expected to be back for Saturday's game against Aston Villa.

CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev has claimed he would welcome the opportunity to play for Manchester United.

The young Russia international has attracted admiring glances from some of Europe's leading teams after his impressive displays for club and country.

Akinfeev has also been linked with Bayern Munich and Arsenal, while Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been credited with an interest.

With Holland international Edwin van der Sar approaching the latter stages of his career, Ferguson could be tempted to bring in further competition for England hopeful Ben Foster.

David SilvaDavid Silva has admitted he was the subject of a large bid from an English club in the summer.

Reports have resurfaced recently suggesting Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to renew his interest in the Valencia winger in January.

The Spanish international was expected to depart the Mestalla in the summer, along with team-mate David Villa, as Valencia looked to ease their precarious financial position.

However both players remained with the La Liga side despite the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid also being said to be interested.

ManuchoReal Valladolid have caused a stir by reaching an agreement to sign Manucho from Manchester United, the Spanish club have confirmed.

The club stated earlier this week that there would be one surprise signing this summer and they believe that the arrival of the Angola international can be seen as something of a coup.

After spending much of last season on loan at Hull City in the English Premier League, Manucho was expected to return to Old Trafford and try to impress Sir Alex Ferguson.

Mame Biram DioufManchester United have confirmed that they have completed the signing of striker Mame Biram Diouf from Norwegian club Molde FK.

The 21-year-old has been immediately loaned back to Molde where he will remain until January.

The transfer may surprise some after manager Sir Alex Ferguson stressed just last week that he would not be making any more signings this summer following the arrivals of Michael Owen, Antonio Valencia and Gabriel Obertan.
